BS.c. Computer Science and Mathematics

Bachelor's degree (B.Sc) in Computer Science and Mathematics

The bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science (without psychometrics) at the Netanya Academic College was built with the aim of providing students with tools for developing in-depth scientific research thinking and rich knowledge in the field of mathematics alongside technology. The degree includes classes in computer knowledge, hardware, databases, programming languages and more.

The field is considered the most sought after due to the demand in the labor market and the good conditions in it.

Over 95% of the program's graduates are embarking on significant roles in the leading high-tech industry.

The degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from the Netanya Academic College was ranked fourth out of all higher education institutions according to Forbes Israel magazine, due to a high academic level combined with a personal attitude.

Dean of the School – Prof. Amos Israeli

The program concentrates on two main subjects, Internet programming, desktops and laptops, and cyber warfare, and both are at the highest level. The goal of the studies is to allow graduates to start their careers with the best tools to maneuver the world of high tech.

The students will learn among other things – to master Java, C, and C # and in-depth development experience in MS-Windows / .net and UNIX / Linux, developing apps for iPhone and Android and dynamic websites (asp.net), computer security and information networks, and gain practical experience in systems analysis, software design, development, distribution, and maintenance.

At the end of the tech courses student will develop a large-scale software project and acquire real practical experience in the subject they studied. The theoretical courses give an in-depth and comprehensive view of data structures, algorithms, automata and computation, operating systems, computer communications, and databases.

At the end of the program, students will participate in a large-scale software project under the personal guidance of one of the school lecturers.

Budding techies – B.Sc. in Computer Sciences and Mathematics.

Netanya Academic College is directing a program for undergraduate studies in high schools. This unique computer sciences and mathematics program prepares outstanding and motivated eighth-grade students for a B.Sc. degree in computer sciences, most of which they will complete during their high school studies.

Today's young people strive to prove themselves from a very early age. They are independent, open-minded and some start to build their careers as teenagers. For that reason, many teenagers choose to get a head start on obtaining a degree at the same time as their high school diploma.

These young people attend an additional afternoon academic class as well as their regular classes. The students share the classes with students their age and older students. They enlist into the army having already finished their B.A. and have a clear advantage in their career going forward.

A unique program teaching security of communication and cyber systems

This program for studying computer sciences and mathematics for a bachelor's degree during high school was developed at the Netanya Academic College nine years ago. It is the same as the program for graduates, except for the order the subjects are taught in. The program includes 131 hours taught over five years. Participants will complete at least 66 academic hours of study during the first four years (ninth to twelfth grades) and will be entitled, according to IDF policy, to a one-year deferral of service for the purpose of completing a bachelor's degree. Once eligible for a high school diploma, students will be upgraded to full-time students. The courses taught in the program will be considered academic credit, and the degree is conditional on a full high school diploma.

The program was founded due to the high demand from students to focus on cyber security and warfare in the hope of service in elite intelligence units. It focuses on cyber and information systems security.

In the current school year alone, 300 high school students are studying as part of the undergraduate program – half are studying on campus in Netanya, and the other half, students from the Wadi Ara area, in Givat Haviva at first and at Netanya Academic College two years later.

Service in Elite Units

As of today, hundreds have successfully completed the program.Eighty-fivee percent of them were integrated into the army's elite cyber units. For the 2017 school year, 18 students graduated and 16 of them went on to serve in cyber units, eight of them in elite units.

In the security forces system today, there is a significant surplus of people with a background in computer science who want to enlist in the cyber units, therefore choosing the right program is important. The college's undergraduate program excels in high percentages of recruits for cyber units due to the optimal training designed to meet the army's requirements.

The undergraduate program in high school, led by Prof. Amos Israeli, is also proud of the support that the teaching staff gives the students. The young age of the students in the program encourages the dean and faculty members to attach great importance to establishing close and supportive relationships with both students and parents.
